40 Day challenge- week 2

This week's update is fairly short and sweet: We saved $47 this week! It was mostly saved by me not buying little things here and there. There was one candle for $13.99 that I really wanted, but I knew it was not a necessity so I didn't buy it. It's pretty amazing how things add up. This challenge is exactly that... very challenging. It's hard to differentiate always between wants and needs. There's more incentive to save the money and not spend when you know your held accountable for it by God! I hope this week we can do even better in really prioritizing. Well, that's all for now, have a hungry baby to tend to!!!:)

40 day challenge- week 1

Last week Matt and I decided to start a 40 day challenge. My friend Danielle inspired me to do this with her own 40 day challenge her and her husband are doing. Our challenge is to not spend money on anything except what we really NEED. We will keep track of what we save and then at the end of the 40 days the money saved will be given to our church. This past week was challenging. It's hard to determine what is a need vs. want. Is my coffee from Tim Horton's a need? Probably not. Buying lunch out is not a need so only one day last week was that done. (Matt and I had a lunch date.) Even something like buying diapers we were able to shop smarter and save some money. The one area we have found we still spend too much on is food. I didn't have time to grocery shop at the end of the week and got home late so we had take out a couple nights. Not expensive but still more than if we had food at home to eat. All in all at the end of the week we saved $75 by not buying things we didn't need. The motivation for us though is really to give more to God and to our church so it's really keeping us going. Well, off to bed. Tomorrow starts week 2 of our journey! AMEN!

Here it goes...

I'm happy to now say I am officially a blogger. Ironically now that I'm busier than ever I've found the time to start this. I think it's more to document these days of my life that are now going by so fast! I can't believe how much has happened in the past year! Last August I married my wonderful husband Mathieu. We went on a fantastic honeymoon and two weeks after we returned I found out I was pregnant. Now, I was very happy to be pregnant, but also very surprised that it happened on the first try. Well fast forward nine months and our beautiful baby daughter Addie was born on May 5th. Now everyone tells you how much your going to love your child, and you believe them. But it is way better. It is way more infinite than our tiny pea brains can comprehend. And for me it represents this taste of how much our God loves us. To be allowed to have a part in creation is the greatest gift He could give us. Wow. So as you can see, my new mom emotions are still pretty raw. In a strange way I hope that never goes away. I would rather live my life in awe of my Creator than to simply take for granted what's been given to me. Five months later, I am enjoying every minute I can with my family. Matt and I so love being parents and are trying to remember that were still people outside of that. And so this is the start of our adventure. ..... more to come!
